Today’s Classic Truck Finds 9/2/2022

The C10 was Chevrolet’s model for the lightweight truck division. The “C” stands for 4×2 trucks, whereas the “K” stands for 4×4. The C/K line of trucks was introduced during the 1960s (labels have been around for much longer) and remained mostly unchanged during the period of 1973 through 1987 (3rd generation) model years, although the 3rd generation was a huge change from previous generations and was known as the “square body”. Some changes for 1978 included changing the gas tank from the right side to the left side and having fuel doors to cover the fuel cap. Also for 1978, Chevy offered a 5.7L V8 diesel engine. During this model run, there were four trims offered: Base, Scottsdale, Cheyenne, and Silverado. The base engine was an inline-six with three different V-8 engines as optional upgrades. The C10 also came in short or long beds. This truck continues to be very popular with truck restoration enthusiasts.
