The Lincoln Continental Mark III is a luxury two-door hardtop coupe produced by the division of Ford Motor Company from 1969 to 1971. It was developed to compete directly with the Cadillac Eldorado. The Mark III was a combination of the fourth generation Lincoln Continental (1961-1969) and the fifth generation four-door Thunderbird (1967). It came with many luxury design elements like hidden headlamps with body color covers, a Rolls Royce-style grille, and a tire bustle on the truck. It came standard with Michelin “X” Radial tires which was a first for an American produced car. The standard engine offering was a 460 cu.in. (7.5L) V8. Did you know that a 1969 Lincoln Continental Mark III was heavily used by a main character in the 1976 movie “Cannonball”?
