For Sale: 1967 Chevrolet Caprice

The 1967 Chevrolet Caprice, part of the model’s first-generation lineup (1966–1970), marked its second year as Chevrolet’s standalone full-size luxury offering, evolving from its Impala origins. In ’67, the Caprice received a refreshed and more curvy exterior, featuring redesigned front and rear styling, wrap‑around grilles, optional front fender corner lamps, and a revised instrument panel with circular gauges and a new steering wheel.

Significant mechanical upgrades included the addition of a dual‑master brake cylinder and optional front disc brakes. The most powerful engine choice also changed from the previous year’s 425 hp 427 cu in “Turbo-Jet” to the 385 hp 427 ciu in V8 after the 427 was discontinued.

The 1967 Caprice also introduced modern amenities for its class, such as stereo 8‑track players, power door locks, and a fiber‑optic exterior light monitoring system. It also featured new vinyl upholstery options and premium trim along with new safety addons like energy-absorbing steering columns and front shoulder belts.

Built on a 119‑inch wheelbase and known as the “land yacht”, it was offered in two-door coupe, four-door hardtop, and multi-passenger wagon body styles.

Chevrolet hit a significant production milestone during this year. On April 21, 1967, a Nantucket Blue Caprice Custom Coupe rolled off the Janesville, Wisconsin assembly line as the 100 millionth General Motors vehicle made in the U.S.
