Today’s Classic Car Finds 02/22/2023

The 450SL is a two-passenger sports car produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1973 to 1980. It came standard with a soft-top and an optional hardtop. The SL stands for “Sport Light” or “Super Light” depending upon what you read. The third generation of the SL class began in 1971 with the introduction of the R107 designation. It was an all-new design with newly added safety features – especially the new emissions equipment required starting in 1975. The 450 indicates the 4.5L V8 engine for this model. There were 66,298 450SLs produced over its lifetime.
