Today’s Classic Car Finds 08/16/2023

The Eldorado was a luxury automobile produced by Cadillac across twelve generations from 1952 to 2002. It was initially produced as a limited-edition convertible to showcase Cadillac’s engineering and design. The name Eldorado translates to “golden one”.

Given the nickname “Land Yacht”, the 1969 two-door hardtop coupe was part of the eighth generation which ran from 1967 to 1970. This generation had a radical redesign due to Cadillac changing the car from rear-wheel drive to front-wheel drive and to position itself as a personal luxury car. It featured a longer hood, shorter rear, and vertical taillights while keeping Cadillac’s distinctive luxury touches. It also offered cutting-edge features like power windows, power seats, air conditioning, and advanced suspension technology. Cadillac also offered a wide range of customization options to allow buyers to further personalize their Eldorado.

The engine offered was the 7.7L high performance V8 matched with a three-speed automatic transmission. There were 23,333 models produced for 1969.
