Ford developed a full-sized line of automobiles during the late 1950s (1955 through 1970) that were termed Fairlane. Trim levels included a base model and the upper trim level named “500” through seven generations. The Fairlane came in a wide variety of body styles over its production life like the two- and four-door sedans, two- and four-door hardtops, station wagons, and convertibles. The 1962 was the start of the fourth generation. This generation was positioned as the in-between vehicle for the Falcon and Galaxie. The Fairlane’s standard engine was the 2.8L Six but had a 3.6L V8 (Windsor) and a 4.2L V8 (Challenger) as options. The transmission offerings was the three-speed manual and two-speed Ford-O-Matic.
