The Grand Prix was produced by Pontiac from 1962 to 2002 (for coupes) and 1989 to 2008 (for sedans). It was based on the Catalina two-door hardtop and was geared as a performance coupe. The standard engine at introduction was the 389 cu.in. 6.4L V8 with a Turbo-Hydramatic transmission. The GP received a mostly new look for 1967 with a convertible also being introduced and lasted for this year only. Also new was a dual master-cylinder braking system, optional front disc brakes, Rally II wheels, collapsible steering column, and 8-track stereo tape player. The 389 V8 was replaced with a new 400 cu.in. 6.6L V8. Did you know that a 1967 Grand Prix was the muscle car sitting in the garage in the 2002 movie “Knight and Day”?
