The famous Ford Model T was produced by Ford Motor Company from 1908 through 1927. The Model T was Ford’s first automobile produced on moving assembly lines with completely interchangeable parts that made it affordable and available to middle-class Americans. The car was also known as the “Tin Lizzie”, “Leaping Lena”, and “flivver”. It came with a 177 cu.in. (2.9L) inline four-cylinder engine that produced 20 hp. The Touring body was all-new for 1921. Some interesting notes about the Model T include: the engine was capable of running on gasoline, kerosene, or ethanol; the ignition system used a low-voltage magneto; it was capable of travelling across heavy snows with kits and continuous tracks and skis in place of the front wheels; a wheel could be removed and a pulley attached to the hub for many applications like running a generator, pump, or other implements. The Model T has always been known for its all-terrain abilities. It was available in a few colors at the beginning of production, but eventually only was offered in black beginning in 1914. It was named the most influential car of the 20th century in the 1999 Car of the Century competition.
