International started out as the International Harvester Company as a result of a 1902 merger between McCormick Harvesting Machine Company and Deering Harvester Company, along with three other smaller ag firms. IH sold off the agricultural division in 1985 to Case and renamed the company Navistar International Corp. The Transtar, introduced in 1968 and known as the 4070A and 4090A, is a series of Class 8 trucks exclusively as a semi-tractor for local delivery and regional shipping uses. In 1974, the Transtar received an upgrade in its design and receiving new engine offerings becoming the 4070B (Transtar II). IH discontinued the Transtar 4070 in 1981.
