The 124 Sport Spider is a convertible sports car produced by Fiat during the years 1966 to 1985. The 1975 was part of the 1972 to 1983 era. This entry into the market was awarded the 1966 European Car of the Year. The Spider was originally sold as a regular model in 1968 in the US and the basic 124 saloon gave way to the Sport Spider and Sport Coupe. It was initially outfitted with a 1.4L belt-driven twin-cam designed by ex-Ferrari engine designer A. Lampredi that went on to become the most winning engine of all time in the World Rally Championships. In 1975, the car had to be modified to comply with the new regulations in the US for emissions. A Sport Spider makes for a great option for those interested in entering the classic car market since parts are easy to obtain and have generally low costs. Fun fact: this car was introduced to the public by being dropped out of an airplane via parachute!
