Today’s Classic Truck Finds 6/13/2022

Starting in 1973, the third generation of C/K GMC trucks were introduced (the “C” denotes two-wheel drive and the “K” denotes four-wheel drive). These were known as the Rounded-Line trucks, but were also given nicknames of box-body or square-body. This generation also saw all trucks having a leaf-spring rear suspension along with a newly designed chassis. Starting in 1978, the C/K truck was the first American full-size truck offering a diesel engine. The Sierra was introduced in 1975 and was used for various trims offered like the Sierra Classic and Sierra Grande. This pickup was usually employed by farmers and construction workers. The standard 1979 engine for the Sierra was the 350 cu.in. (5.7L) V8. An interesting point of history is that the Rounded-Line trucks were the first generation of the C/K line to use computers and wind tunnels by engineers during their design.
