The AMC Rambler American was produced from 1958 to 1969 as a revamp of the Nash Motor’s Rambler to compete in the compact car market with the big three auto makers. The numbers indicated the trim level with three options: 220, 330, and 440. This little car was very popular for being inexpensive and economical to maintain. The 1965 year was part of the third generation and were marketed as “The Sensible Spectaculars”. 1965 was the last year for a flathead six engine to be used in any US car.
