The CJ series of Jeep are small off-road vehicles built after WWII for the civilian population (CJ = “civilian Jeep”) beginning in 1945. The Willys CJ5 model was introduced in 1955 and lasted until 1986. This series of CJs were upgraded to be better on every level – stronger, more versatile, and more comfortable, and more stylish. The first part (1955 to 1971) of its run was considered the “short-nose” era and the second part (1972 to 1983) was the “long-nose” era. The CJ5 was what brought the idea of off-roading to light and is still a very popular model among enthusiasts.
