The Thunderbird was produced by Ford Motor Company over eleven generations from 1955 to 1997 and again from 2002 to 2005. Initially it was designed as a two-seat convertible but was produced in many body styles over its lifetime including a four-seat hardtop coupe, four-seat convertible, five-seat hardtop, five-seat convertible, four-door pillared hardtop sedan, five-passenger pillared coupe, six-passenger hardtop coupe, and a two-seat convertible. The 1966 model was the end of the fourth generation that ran from 1964 to 1966. These models were restyled to a more squared-off look involving some body changes and were known as the “Flair Birds”. The interior designs were inspired by the then current space programs. They came as a hardtop, convertible, and Sports Roadster. The engine offerings were a 6.4L V8 and two 7.0L V8s. A 1966 Thunderbird was featured in several popular movies including “Murderers’ Row”, “Thelma and Louise”, and the “Outsiders”.
