Today’s Classic Car Finds 11/14/2022

The Firebird was a sports car (pony car class) developed in 1967 by Pontiac to compete against the Ford Mustang. The Firebird was produced across four generations ending in 2002. The 1977 model was part of the second generation running from 1970 to 1981. This generation was given a new updated look, but still based on the same F-body platform. Coupes were the only body style available during this time frame. The models offered were the Firebird, Firebird Esprit, Firebird Formula, and the Firebird Trans Am. There were also many special or limited editions. Most of the changes for 1977 involved a few external styles, most notably being the headlights being changed from round to square. There are several new engine offerings as well. There was a total of 155,735 cars produced for 1977 across all models. Of course, we all know of the black Trans Am model used in the movies “Smokey and the Bandit”.
