The 1955 Ford F100 pickup was part of the 2nd generation out of fourteen generations of trucks, which was from the years of 1953 to 1956. This generation introduced increased sizes and improved engines bringing updates in utility, comfort, and safety. The model numbers were also changed with the 1/2 ton becoming the F100, the 3/4 ton becoming the F250, and the one ton becoming the F350. This generation also had several firsts for this series of truck: adjustable seat, power brakes, and as options: the Ford-O-Matic auto transmission and seat belts. These early F100s are sometimes affectionately referred to as Effies by Ford enthusiasts.
