The Mustang, in a newly created class known as the pony cars, was produced by Ford beginning in 1964. With its attractive styling, many available options, and affordability made it a widely successful car selling over 1.3 million during the first three years of production. The 1966 is part of the first generation and was the last that had the original styling with very minor updates. There are many new safety features added for this year. The engine offerings were a variety of I6 and V8 engines as well as three main body styles.
