The Ford L-series heavy-duty truck was produced from 1970 to 1998. It was assembled in Louisville, KY and commonly had a nickname of “Louisville Line” – hence the L-series name. The L-series had a wide range of models for medium-duty, severe-service, and vocational uses in the 6-8 Classes. This line became one of the most popular lines of trucks made by Ford. The L-8000 trucks were the first dedicated Class 8 truck made by Ford and typically came with severe-service setups. It had a 61,000 pound max GVWR with a V-225 engine. The 1978 was part of the first generation of the new L-series line which were designed with a larger cab and a front-hinged hood. A Ford L-8000 series truck is used by a main character in many well known TV shows and movies.
