As part of the C/K series of pickup trucks produced by General Motors, the C20, denoting it as a 3/4-ton, made its debut in 1960 and underwent several design updates over four generations after which the trucks were renamed the Silverado.
The third generation underwent a significant redesign in 1973, which carried over to the 1976 models and was given the name “Rounded Line”. These trucks featured a squared-off body design with a more massive and more robust appearance compared to their predecessors. The C20 was equipped with heavier-duty suspension and components to handle heavier payloads and towing.
In 1976, the C20 was available with a range of engine options. The standard engine was the 250 cubic-inch (4.1L) inline-six. Optional V8 engines were available. Body styles included a regular cab with a long or short bed, and a crew cab with a long bed. Trim levels offered now included the Silverado and Scottsdale.
Fun fact: The 1976 Chevrolet C20 offered a unique paint option called “Buckskin.” This distinctive color was a blend of gold and brown shades and is now highly sought after by collectors for its rarity.
