The Manhattan was the top model produced by the newly formed Kaiser-Frazer Company from 1946 through 1951. The 1948 model was an early offering that won the Fashion Academy of New York Gold Medal for design. The emphasis was on safety via bumpers, low center of gravity, visibility for the driver, and more. Frazers also came with new color selections. It came as a four-door sedan with a 3.7L inline-six engine. One interesting tidbit is the fact that the doors had push-button openers.
