The medium-duty F-series trucks were produced by Ford Motor Company beginning in 1948 across eight generations and are still being made. These trucks come as a straight truck, truck-tractor, and bus configurations and were used for busing, towing, hauling, and firefighting among other uses. The F500 is part of the third generation and the 500 denotes a one and a half ton. The main changes for this generation were the clamshell hood, grill updates, and introduction of quad headlights. The 223 cu.in. inline-six was the standard engine with an optional Ford Y-Block V8 available.
