The Firebird was produced by Pontiac from the 1967 to 2002 across four generations. The Trans Am was an optional package that included engineering upgrades and appearance additions built on the F-body platform. The 1975 TA was part of the second generation from 1970 to 1981. This year’s model included new rear windows that wrapped around more of the sides. The Pontiac L78 400 engine was standard with the 455 being optional. Starting in 1975, the Super Duty engine and TurboHydramatic 400 three-speed automatics were no longer available due to the new emission standards which resulted in a slower car than previous years although its handling was second to none. There was a total of 27,274 Trans Ams produced for 1975. Did you know a 1975 was used extensively by the main character in the 1981 to 1986 TV series “The Fall Guy”?
