International Harvester produced the Fleetstar series of heavy-duty trucks from 1962 to 1977, until the S-series replaced it. Coming in between the Loadstar and the Paystar/Transtar, it was one of the first for vocational work. It was offered as a straight truck or a semi-tractor. Being simple and plain, these work trucks were reliable, easily maintained, and at a low cost were popular as fleet trucks. The Fleetstar series offered a range of engines from several gasoline to mid-range diesels; most had five-speed transmissions with a six-speed automatic being optional.
