The Ford Custom was produced during various years from 1949 to 1959. When introduced, the Custom nameplate was reserved for the top trim level offered. The name, after some changes, returned for the 1957 year along with a new Custom 300 series, coming in below the Fairlane and Fairlane 500 at the bottom and next step up option; mainly for fleet buyers and value-looking buyers. Body styles included either a two- or four-door sedan and a two-door business coupe. It also came with a standard six-cylinder 223 cu.in. engine. In 1960, Ford replaced the Custom series by moving the Fairlane into the base level trim option. There were 340,871 1958 Custom 300s produced. Did you know that a 1958 Custom 300 was used in an action scene in the 1973 movie “American Graffiti”?.
