The designated personal luxury car AMC Rambler Marlin is a two-door fastback produced from 1965 to 1967. AMC wanted to compete with the “Big Three” automobile manufacturers at the time by developing new models for additional market segments. The new design would be added to the company’s “Sensible Spectaculars” model line. To further remove itself from the economy and compact Ramblers, AMC started using the nameplate AMC Marlin with the 1966 model. Its main promotion was one of roominess and comfort, moving to a 3+3 seating arrangement instead of a 2+2 coupe. The Marlin came with engine options of a 232 cu.in. 3.8L inline-six, 287 cu.in. 4.7L V8, and two different 327 cu.in. 5.4L V8s.
