Today’s Classic Car Finds 08/23/2023

The Oldsmobile 88 is an iconic car model that was produced by the American automaker Oldsmobile. Its production spanned ten generations from 1949 to 1999. The 1960 model was part of the fourth generation which spanned 1959 to 1960 model years.

The 1960 88 featured a new, modern design compared to previous models. The car had a sleeker appearance, characterized by its distinctive “bubbletop” roofline, which was a curved roof design that flowed smoothly from the windshield to the rear window. This style was promoted as the “Linear Look”.

Several body styles were available for this generation including sedans, coupes, convertibles, and station wagons. The trim levels were the standard Dynamic 88, the Super 88, and the 98. The engines offered were a range of the Rocket V8 engines.

The 88 was popular within the NASCAR racing circuits and won its share of races. It was also included in many TV shows and movies set within the 1960s era.
