The Tempest was an entry-level compact automobile produced by Pontiac from 1960 to 1970 and 1987 to 1991 across four generations. Everything about the Tempest is unique (it was designed by John DeLorean after all) from the styling, engine and engine block, drivetrain, transmission (no interior transmission hump), and all the way down to the wheels and brakes. The first year of Tempest was Motor Trend magazine’s Car of the Year and had other numerous mentions. The 1962 model is part of the first generation which ran from 1961 to 1963. It was available in a four-door sedan, two-door coupe, two-door convertible, and four-door station wagon body style. The LeMans was a trim upgrade. The standard engine was the “Trophy 4” four-cylinder and had a couple of V8s as options. There were also many options available as well for an entry-level vehicle.
