- 1964 Ford Falcon Futura
- The Falcon was a compact version of the Ford Galaxie produced across three generations by Ford from 1960 to 1970. It was the first compact model introduced from the “Big Three” – Ford, GM, and Chrysler. The base engine offered was the 144 cu.in. (2.4L) Mileage Maker inline six with a 170 cu.in. (2.8L) Mileage Maker inline six being optional. After 1962 a 260 cu.in. (4.3L) Challenger V8 was offered, the first for its market. The Futura name was added in 1962 for an upgraded trim level with lots of additions. The Falcon was offered in many different body styles. The second generation (1964 to 1965) was updated with more squared-off styling. The new Ford Mustang also introduced during the 1960s resulted in dropping sales and discontinuation of the Falcon. Did you know a Futura convertible was used by the main character in the 1987 movie “Summer School”?
